So what am I reading in the world of Poker right now? Well, I have my hands on two books from two very different authors. The first book “Poker Tilt” by Dutch Boyd was on sale on Amazon for like $2 on Kindle, so I snagged that up as I’ve known of Dutch since “The Crew” was having a great WSOP. The second book was Beating Small Stakes No Limit by Ed Miller, one of the better poker authors out there , as well as being a very respected poker coach.
The first book, I picked up on special, and to be fair, I wasn’t sure what to expect because I had seen a lot of Dutch Boyd on TV and seen all the forum posts but was willing to give it a shot. After I started reading the book, I was unable to put it down. The honesty and raw truth about professional poker are very clearly illustrated in this book. The ups and down that come with being in this industry hit you right in the face. Dutch owes up to a lot of things that may not have gone the way they should and he is very open about his bouts vs bipolar disorder. I felt that after reading the book I really had gotten a gleam into the “lifestyle”
Now Ed Miller’s book, I’m still reading but having been a huge fan of “Small Stakes Holdem” I felt that his Small Stakes No Limit book was going to just as good. Now that I’m playing more 3/5 No Limit than I am Limit games, I felt it was time to get another good book on the subject. Early chapters seem very promising but we will see as we go through it and I will have a deeper review of the book after I’m done.
That’s it for now 🙂
